Remembering..
I know most everyone thinks that they have the best parents/grandparents...but I truely do believe that mine are the best.
My Grandpa was one of the sweetest guys I've ever met. I loved listening to him tell stories for hours. He could fix pretty much anything and everything. He didn't have an extraordinary voice, but I loved to hear him sing. He was such a fighter, battling cancer for the last few years of his life. He was the sweetest husband to my Grandma. He gave the best hugs and had the cutest laugh.
A couple weeks ago in church the preacher spoke on remembering our mentors. He said we should thank them for helping guide us to God. It broke my heart that I couldn't call up my Grandpa and tell him how much he meant to me. I wanted to thank him for helping me learn so much throughout my whole life. Even tho I couldn't thank him personally, I thanked God for placing him in my life. And, I'm sure God passed along the message to him. :)
It was four years ago (last Friday) that my Grandpa passed away. He's probably singing bass, in the choir, with the angels right now.
I miss singing along to the Cathedrals with you. I miss going thrifting with you. I miss sharing jamocha shakes with you. I miss you surprising me with Hello Kitty things. I miss your smile. I miss taking road trips with you. I miss watching you work. I miss counting airplanes with you. I miss you.

Thank you, Sierd VanDussen, for being the best Grandpa I could ever ask for.

10 random things...
How do you really start a blog? I have no idea. I could start by telling you my whole life story, but that probably bore you to death. I guess I'll just start by giving you 10 random things about myself. So, here goes nothing:
1. I am the third child out of four. I was the baby until my little brother came around and ruined that.
2. You could say I'm
just a little bit obsessed with Hello Kitty. Always have been (probably always
will.) If someone doesn't know what to get me for my birthday/Christmas I
usually end up getting something Hello Kitty.
3. I love everything to be clean and organized. Of course my laziness and procrastination gets in the way of this sometimes, but I try to overlook that. One day I'll have everything clean and organized and it will stay that way. Hopefully.
4. I was home
schooled from 1st grade to 12th grade. There is definitely a big difference
from being a home-schooler and being home schooled. No, I am not a weirdo. No,
I do not wear skirts 24/7. No, It was not a big party where I sat around in my
pajamas watching TV all day. (that only happened every other day!)
5. My favorite color
is yellow. I love how its bright and cheery. My world needs more yellow things.
6. I will be graduating college in May. I cannot wait to be done with school and to start my life with Andrew.
7. My family owns two toy stores in the Grand Rapids, MI area. They started by selling things online around 2000 and then we opened our first store in 2006. You should check it out: www.thetoyshelf.com Yeah, it's pretty cool.
8. I don't eat very much meat. Not because I'm all for animal rights or anything. I just don't like the taste of it and plus the whole thought just grosses me out. Even watching other people eat it grosses me out. There are a few kinds of meat I'll eat but it's a rare occasion and I'd just much rather eat other things.
9. I want to learn how to sew. I already know how to do basic things, like make a pillow, but I would love to make clothes, bags, etc. My mom said I could have one of her sewing machines when I move out. So one day soon it will happen. I'll try to teach myself (with help from the internet, of course.)
10. There's only 145
days left until I become Mrs. York! So beyond excited to be Andrew's wife.

Hopefully my other blog posts will be a little more exciting. But hey, you gotta start somewhere, right?
Also, today is my mom's birthday! I could never ask for a better mom. She is the most selfless person I have ever met. She'll do anything for me and I love her so much.
